CRITERIA FOR A ZERO PERIOD CLASS 

A student must have an impacted schedule to obtain a zero period. Examples are:

  • AVID Program

  • SOCSA Program 

  • HMO Program

  • ASU 

  • Language Immersion Program

  • Honors World History (must be pre-approved to take Honors English I)

 

SCHOOL OF CHOICE (SOC)
Parents of district students (CUSD) who would like their child to attend a school other than the school serving their neighborhood, should follow the process outlined under School of Choice. The application window is February 1, 2023 - March 3, 2023.

ASU FRESHMAN APPLICATION

Applications to apply for the 2023-2024 ASU Student Council can be found HERE
Applications are due by Monday, March 6th to the DHHS Activities Office by 3:30 pm.
 

ATHLETICS

AVID

AVID is a nationally recognized program designed to help bright, motivated students in their completion of college-prep coursework while in high school, in hopes that these students will be able to gain acceptance to 4-year colleges or universities directly from high school.

HEALTH AND MEDICAL OCCUPATIONS ACADEMY (HMO)

The HMO Academy is a state funded academy designed for students who want to pursue a career in the health field.  Only incoming freshmen may apply to be in the HMO Academy.

PEP SQUAD

Incoming Freshmen interested in Cheer/Song Squads need to attend the mandatory parent meeting and tryout. Please see linked flyer HERE for dates, times, and location. 
 

SOUTH ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOL OF THE ARTS (SOCSA)

SOCSA is a visual and performing arts academy for students within the Capistrano Unified School District who have special interests and potential for creativity.  Applications coming soon!.

TWO WAY IMMERSION

Our Two Way Immersion - Spanish (TWIS) Program has the goal of preparing our language students to achieve high level proficiency in two languages (English and Spanish), along with academic biliteracy, critical thinking skills, bicultural awareness and sensitivity and appreciation.
