WHAT IS AVID?

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)

AVID is a four year program designed to assist students in the middle who want more. These students are unique because they have average to high test scores (especially in math) with academic potential and a desire and determination to complete a 4-year degree, but may face obstacles that could block that path.

AVID is a decades-long program that is in schools world-wide. AVID has known incredible success supporting students in achieving their dreams of going to college by providing an on-campus class that follows them through their high school career and offers support and training in essential skills like time management, note-taking, communication, writing, college and career research, and organiztion. AVID's tutorial sessions are a unique opportunity for students to get help in their classes while practicing the critical skills of inquiry and problem solving.

AVID students become life-long learners and contributors to their communities. They are taught to advocate for both themselves and for others and they are encouraged to grow and explore their future paths with the support of their teachers and peers.
